NHG took over the operation of Yttervik in May 2021 and while the previous owners lived on the campsite and could handle keys themselves, Rune needed a system that would manage this without having a person permanently residing at the campsite in case guests arrived. Equally important was maintaining a great guest experience — it had to be simple and ideally make guests independent of opening hours.

We looked at several different solutions, but the one that stood out and also had a close collaboration with VisBook was Invite. We received positive feedback from their existing customers, and they were on the ball when it came to follow-up. So in the end it was an easy choice for us.

With Invite, we have achieved what we set out to do — to be open year-round without having someone present on site every single day. This makes us less vulnerable than if we were dependent on staff on location, and of course our staffing costs are very different from what they would have been had we needed to be fully manned 24/7. It is worth noting that we do also have staff on site during high season.

Conferences and tiny houses by the fjord

We are looking ahead and continuing to invest. Valrygg Studio has designed mini houses that will be built along the fjord, with completion planned for summer 2023. At the same time, we will continue to develop Yttervik as a destination and have many other exciting plans. In the long run, we want to become the most attractive venue for smaller courses and staff gatherings in Helgeland, and not least the most attractive accommodation destination. Ambitious goals perhaps, but it is important to have aspirations, Rune concludes with a twinkle in his eye.
